Presentation around dealing with misinformation and the overview of methods to address misinformation

This workshop will tackle misinformation and disinformation on Wikimedia platforms, especially Wikipedia, focusing on African content. Participants will learn fact-checking strategies, source verification, and misinformation detection through practical exercises. Techniques include reverse image search (Yandex, InVID WeVerify, Google Reverse Image Search) and using Hive for AI-generated content verification and ClaimBuster for claim detection. The session will also cover open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools for building threat-actor databases and reveal how extremist groups use digital strategies to evade detection, aiming to equip the African Wikimedia community with the skills to ensure content accuracy and integrity.
