Biodiversity is crucial for Earth's health and well-being, and language is a powerful medium for documenting and preserving cultural heritage. However, many indigenous and underrepresented languages are at risk of disappearing, affecting local ecosystems and species. Crowdsourcing can help document biodiversity in these languages by collecting information from a large number of people, filling gaps in knowledge, and protecting endangered species. This presentation will discuss the challenges and opportunities of using crowdsourcing and examples of successful projects.
